　　鑒于以往中外有關動物隱喻的研究大多數是以問卷調查或詞典為來源收集語料，以大型語料庫為語料來源、以非人域為目標域對單個動物進行細致深入跨文化研究比較少這一事實，本書以Lakoff和Johnson(1980)的概念隱喻理論及Fauconnier和Turner(1998；2002)的概念整合理論為基礎，從北大現代漢語語料庫和英語國家語料庫中分別提取語料，以目標域為立足點對目標域為人及非人域時漢英蛇、獅隱喻在源域、喻義、抽象出的概念隱喻及感情色彩等方面的異同作了翔實的分析和比較，發現不同文化中的動物隱喻是相似性和差異性共存的。
