根據(jù)教育部的要求，為了提高我國(guó)高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)教學(xué)水平，促進(jìn)國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)交流，我們編寫(xiě)了這本英文版醫(yī)學(xué)微生物學(xué)教材，作為高等醫(yī)學(xué)院校雙語(yǔ)教學(xué)或全英文教學(xué)的參考用書(shū)。我們僅選取了教學(xué)中要求掌握的重點(diǎn)內(nèi)容，以美國(guó)麥格勞一希爾出版（Appleton & Lange McGraw—Hill．）所出版并授權(quán)的Jawetz ，Melnick & Adelberg’s．Medical Microbiology（第24版，2007年出版）作為主要的參考書(shū)進(jìn)行了改編。所編寫(xiě)的內(nèi)容分為三篇，即細(xì)菌學(xué)、病毒學(xué)和真菌學(xué)。限于篇幅，僅重點(diǎn)介紹了有關(guān)病原的主要生物學(xué)特性、致病性及其檢測(cè)方法。
參加編寫(xiě)的人員，均為教學(xué)和科研第一線的教授，他們都具有豐富的教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn)，為本書(shū)的編寫(xiě)盡心盡力。在此對(duì)所有編者表示謝意。本教材不僅適用于五年制、七年制、八年制各個(gè)專業(yè)的醫(yī)學(xué)生及留學(xué)生，也可供研究生、教師及臨床工作者作為參考。
